The multifaceted event includes two components: an exhibition juried by Westword's own arts-and-culture superstar Susan Froyd, curated from submitted works shown in the district during 2011; and the awards, which are nominated and voted upon by you, the people. That makes two sets of awards, and Quinlan says she's gotten a "huge response," with more than 500 citizens voting for solo shows, group shows, galleries, events, the best district graffiti wall and even a write-in category, where the guerrilla dubstep Whomp Truck team was nominated.
The gala, which takes place at the EventGallery at 910Arts, 910 Santa Fe Drive, is free and open to the public. Live music from Man-Cub will get things going at 8 p.m., and the awards start at 9, followed by cake. The exhibit continues through March 10; for more information, visit www.artdistrictonsantafe.com.
