Be Inspired

Art is happening everywhere, all the time. That’s the premise of Lakewood’s third annual INSPIRE Arts Week, starting today with a free open house and dress rehearsal for the Lakewood Symphony.

Grown out of a grant project that asked the city what a rich arts culture would look like in the future, the eleven-day event highlights the accomplishments and daily activities of key players in the city’s music, theater and arts scenes. “We realized there were many different arts groups and a lot of things happening that people didn’t really know about,” says INSPIRE curator Lorene Joos.

Free and discounted events include live jazz, gallery openings, a production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest from the Edge Theatre Company, antique appraisals from the Lakewood Historical Society, outdoor movie showings and more.

INSPIRE Arts Week runs through June 15. For a full list of events, venues and locations, visit
