Be True To Your Pool

If there’s one thing Denver is lacking, it’s pools. Unless you live in a trendy apartment complex or splurge on a plastic pool for the back yard, you probably don’t spend much of your summers here dangling your toes in the water with an umbrella drink in hand. Picking up on this one Denver flaw, Kevin Larson Presents found a way to fix it — by planning a free weekly pool party.

The first Sunday Recovery Pool Party — a chance to let sun and cheap drinks heal your indiscretions from the night before — goes from noon to five today at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, 6363 East Hampden Avenue, and features music from DJ Devo. Logistics director Jodi Johnson promises a weekly poolside grill and a full poolside bar, with rotating $4 specials on drinks like Bloody Marys, mojitos, margaritas and mimosas. “It’s just a chance to go to the pool,” Johnson says. “There will be volleyball, all kinds of pool games. It’s a nice little recovery on Sunday.”

Watch for special events, including a bikini fashion show, coming later this summer. Or visit to schedule your own event. The parties will continue every Sunday through September 1 — but don’t worry if there’s a chill in the air: The pool also has an indoor area and a hot tub.
Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: May 27. Continues through Sept. 1, 2007
