In her comedy, Amy Schumer gets boldly, hilariously personal, whether she's discussing HPV, divulging ridiculous sexual encounters or playing the ditzy blonde who just wants to catch a man ("I know this shirt's a little weird -- it kinda makes me look pregnant," goes one of her jokes, "but, you know, dress for the job that you want.") The funny lady says her comedy is all either the truth or the polar opposite of the truth. "I'll say something really ridiculous, kind of playing a role like an Ugly American, just the most racist idiot," explains Schumer. "But then I'll also talk about totally true stories that happened to me, you know, in and out of the bedroom."

But beneath her whip-smart jokes, Schumer confronts and toys with female stereotypes in a fresh, funny way. That ability landed her fourth place on season five of NBC's Last Comic Standing; since then, Schumer has appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm and 30 Rock and in the upcoming Steve Carell film Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, which comes out in June.

Schumer recorded her comedy album, Cutting, at the Comedy Works in Denver, and she'll return to the venue, 1226 15th Street, tonight at 8 p.m., tomorrow at 8 and 10 p.m., and on Saturday at 6:30, 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. For more info and tickets, $15 to $23, call 303-595-3637 or visit www.comedyworks.com.
