Its not just singletrack, either: Recreational cyclists can comfortably cruise all the way from Breck to Vail on dedicated bike paths, and as of last week, Breckenridge now boasts bike lanes in both directions on Main Street. Try them out yourself during the second annual Breck Bike Week, which kicked off on July 4 with the Firecracker 50 (otherwise known as the USA Cycling Mountain Bike Marathon National Championships) and runs through July 11.
Today at 2 p.m., you can watch the pros at the Ripstoke Trials Show at Riverwalk Center, then take a guided trail ride (Breck is offering them all week) or join in a casual cruiser ride at 5:30 p.m. this evening. Other activities include such family-friendly fare as bike-in movie nights (Pee-Wees Big Adventure!) and races for kids. All of the public events are free, and Golden-based Yeti Cycles is offering demo days in case you dont own a roof rack (or a bike). For more information, go to www.gobreck.com.
