Booking It

With a Barnes & Noble or a Borders in just about every neighborhood, it’s not every day that you can wish a local bookstore a happy 35th birthday. But the Boulder Book Store -- with its massive selection of wonderful reading material at very reasonable prices -- is giving us that opportunity. Even better, the store is sharing its birthday spirit through an array of special author events and discounts for the first two weeks in October.

The birthday party kicks off today with a signing by Neal Stephenson; other authors stopping by to celebrate include Tom Kostigen, Jon Scieszka, Neil Gaiman, Laurence Gonzales, T.A. Barron and Philippa Gregory, plus an in-store appearance by Skippyjon Jones. And from October 10 through 12, Readers Guild members (formerly the Frequent Buyer Club) will receive 20 percent off everything in the store except periodicals. Happy Birthday, indeed!

The Boulder Book Store is at 1107 Pearl Street in Boulder; visit or call 303-447-2074.

KEEP WESTWORD FREE... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
