While an architect’s work is always on display in the buildings that he or she designs, it’s more rare to find it in a gallery. The American Institute of Architects Colorado College of Fellows is changing that, bringing together paintings, drawings and sculptures from more than twenty AIA Colorado architects for a pop-up show titled Art by Architects.

“So many of the architects are also artists and do a lot of other creative pursuits outside of just architecture,” says Alaina Gonzales of AIA. “We wanted to showcase that work and really give it a platform.”

The pieces are all for sale, and at least 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Fellows’ scholarship program for University of Colorado Denver architecture graduate students, to help the development and education of new professionals in the field.

The one-night-only show runs from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight in AIA's atrium lobby at 303 East 17th Avenue. For more information and to see samples of the artists’ work, go to artbyarchitects.com.
Fri., Nov. 22, 5-8 p.m., 2013
