Doors Open Denver is all about showing off the city’s bones. The theme of this year’s two-day citywide open house is “Celebrating Neighborhood Architecture,” and it will shine a spotlight on over sixty structures — city buildings, historic mansions, hotels and theaters — in more than a dozen Denver neighborhoods, including Capitol Hill and Five Points. “Our history lies in our architecture. By entering buildings with important and relevant architecture from the past, we learn about the history of Denver,” says Carol Hiller of Doors Open Denver.

Both self-guided outings and informative tours given by architects and historians are available, and it’s all free. Denver B-cycle will partner with Doors Open Denver again this year, offering special rates for those looking to explore Denver on two wheels.

The tenth-anniversary edition of Doors Open Denver runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and tomorrow. The event will be headquartered inside the lobby of 1801 California Street, where doors open at 7:30 a.m. and tickets for specific guided tours will be handed out beginning at 8:30.
