Some of the fashionistas in the Emily Griffith Opportunity School's fashion design program have used their trendsetting skills to raise funds for fun activities throughout the year — but they've decided it's time to give back now. Several members of the Fashion Group International's Denver student group have banded together for a Toys for Tots Fashion Show Benefit, which will take place tonight at Lodo’s Bar & Grill, 1946 Market Street.

"Knowing they can raise money for fun things, and because they have the ability and the experience, they wanted to give back to the community," says Annette Herrera, whose daughter, Ashley, is a participating designer. "There are four designers, and they'll have anywhere from ten to fifteen — even up to twenty — designs that they've made themselves." A group of Marines will be there representing Toys for Tots; they'll collect the $10 donation that's the price of admission — or get in for $5 with a new, unwrapped toy. Models will showcase the unique garments (which include both winter and summer wear) on the catwalk; afterward, you can mingle with the designers, then tell everyone you know that you rubbed elbows with an up-and-coming Name in the Fashion World. Doors open at 7 p.m.; for information, call Herrera at 720-276-8745 or e-mail [email protected].
