Critical Thought

Join director and former film critic Gerald Peary and host Howie Movshovitz of Colorado Public Radio tonight for a special screening of For the Love of Movies: The Story of American Film Criticism at the Denver Film Society’s Doc Night. The documentary is a look at the fine art of talking about movies, from the glory days of Pauline Kael to today’s legion of film bloggers.

“What this all gets back to is, in this day and age, when anyone can sort of be like ‘I’m a film critic,’ what is film criticism, and why does that have to be examined again?” says Keith Garcia, programming manager for the Denver Film Society.

It starts tonight at 7 p.m. at Starz FilmCenter, 900 Auraria Parkway. Tickets are $9.50, $7 for students and seniors and $6 for DFS members. You can catch encore screenings, sans the special guests, through October 18. For more info, visit or call 303-595-3456.
