Ensler herself asked Pesha Rudnick, artistic director of LOCAL Theater Company, to participate, and to that end, LOCAL and six other female-run Boulder-area theater and dance companies are joining forces to host Dance, Baby, Dance!, an all-ages dance party — with a focus on kids — at Shine Restaurant & Gathering Place. “When we started V-Day, we had the outrageous idea that we could end violence against women,” Ensler has said. “Now we are both stunned and thrilled to see that this global action is truly escalating and gaining force.”
Show your support and bring the family to Shine, 2027 13th Street in Boulder, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today, to party and dance (lessons will be provided for those who want them); each sponsoring troupe — including LOCAL, Band of Toughs, the Catamounts, Hoarded Stuff Performance, Square Product Theatre, TinHOUSE Experimental Dance Theatre and Wrecking Ball Theatre — will also give a short performance. A Valentine-making station is on the slate as well, and admission is free. For more information about One Billion Rising and other V-Day events along the Front Range, go to www.onebillionrising.org.
