Celebrate Earth Day 2013 while the sun is still shining! Today's Earth Day also marks the third anniversary for Denver Bike Sharing, which launched Denver's B-cycle system on April 22, 2010. To get the day rolling, Denver B-cycle is offering annual memberships at a discounted annual rate of $59 through the end of today -- after that, annual memberships return to the regular price of $80.

"Earth Day reminds us to respect the planet and treat it with great care all year long," says Denver Bike Sharing executive director Parry Burnap in announcing the events. "Each trip in a car that's replaced by a ride on a bicycle helps reduce carbon emissions. and the bike-sharing system -- for errands, to commute or just for fitness and fun -- offers a convenient, affordable way to have a positive impact on the environment."
Denver Bike Sharing shares these four ways to celebrate Earth Day 2013:
Denver B-cycle riders are encouraged to submit photographs on the social media site Instagram and tag with #betteronabcycle. The grand prize winner will receive two tickets to a Colorado Rapids soccer game of their choosing in addition to a B-cycle bike jersey so they can ride to the game in style. Other prizes will also be awarded.
On April 22, any Denver B-cycle member can invite a friend to ride for free; just use the promo code 42213 at any of the 56 Denver B-cycle stations (usage fees for rides longer than 30 minutes still apply and a credit card is required to register). Participants in our "Friends Ride Free" day can also receive two tickets to the Colorado Rapids game of their choice if their friend decides to sign up for an annual membership. Simply email Alex at firstname.lastname@example.org with the current and new members' names to receive your tickets!
The Denver Zoo, Museum of Nature and Science, and Botanic Gardens are offering free admission on Earth Day and Denver B-cycle members are encouraged to use the "Friends Ride Free" promotion to visit these locations. All three locations have B-stations out front!
Denver B-cycle is pleased to once again host a booth as part of the City's Earth Day Fair. Please note that due to wintry weather, the event will no longer take place outside. Instead, look for our red bikes in the Webb Municipal Building Atrium at 201 W Colfax. After visiting us we encourage everyone to explore the 52 vendor booths and numerous food trucks at this free, zero emissions event. The fair starts at 10 a.m. and lasts through 2 p.m. on Monday, April 22.
