Jack Jensen's Mutiny Now bookstore, now under new ownership, morphed into Mutiny Information Cafe just one month ago. But the changing of the guard at the South Broadway is already making itself evident, as the new book and coffee place begins to add events, such as the Westword Best of Denver-winning Mutiny Word Night, to its roster.
The latest addition is a a four-week Embroidery Residency, hosted by DIY crafters' collective Denver Craft Ninjas, which begins Wednesday, April 3, with an introductory session from 7 to 10 p.m. Classes continue weekly through the month, and during the course of the series, you'll learn eight basic stitches and take it from there.
The registration fee of $12 per class or $40 for all four includes an embroidery hoop, doodle fabric, embroidery floss, patterns, needles and a tea towel to stitch; if you have your own materials, the fee is $5, payable at the door. In fact, the Craft Ninjas are so accommodating, they're even inviting embroidery nerds who don't require instruction to bring their projects and join the group just to to stitch and bitch.
