Denver Roller Dolls Karaoke Gong Show tonight at Benders

The Denver Roller Dolls throw down for their second bout of the season this weekend (April 17) at the 1st Bank Center, but first they'll be taking center stage tonight at Benders Tavern for the Karaoke Gong Show.

Each $3 donation to the Roller Dolls (a non-profit organization, the Dolls are on the up and up: Their traveling Mile High Club team finished 3rd place at last season's Women's Flat Track Derby Association WFTDA National Championships) buys you the power to "gong" a performer off the stage.

Do yourself a favor and try not to wield your power when Westword's Best of Denver winner Jessica "Honey Punches of Throats" Kolacny takes the stage.

For more on the Denver Roller Dolls and their crosstown rivals the Rocky Mountain Roller Girls, don't miss Melanie Asmar's February Westword cover story.

Come one come all! Gong Karaoke is back in style!  What is Gong karaoke you ask? Well it's only the best kind of karaoke around! People sign up to sing a song, and if someone does not like the song or just wants to get them off stage they will donate $3 dollars to the league to hit the gong to get them off stage! The Denver Roller Dolls will be hitting the high notes at Bender's Tavern in downtown Denver on April 13th, 2010 at 9 PM. Show up supporting your favorite home team by wearing the colors of that team. Or just wear any Denver Roller Dolls gear! All this fun while supporting the league, having delicious beverages, and singing your heart out! Bring a friend, bring your family, and best yet bring yourself!
