Namaste Salons is collaborating with Western Resource Advocates to deliver Earth, Wind and Hair, a one-of-a-kind fashion-slash-hair show, benefit and bash tomorrow night that'll blow you out of your seat with more force than one of those new Bio-Ionic hair dryers.

"Aveda was basically founded on giving back to the community and promoting the environment," says Namaste founder and co-owner Rick Van De Riet. "We're one of the top environmental companies in the world." And Western Resource Advocates, a Boulder-based non-profit environmental law and policy organization that's all about the planet, was a natural fit for an Aveda benefit. Western Resource Advocates fights to protect the West's land, air and water; the rganization's overarching goal is to achieve sustainable management of resources for the local communities it serves.
"The Earth, Wind and Hair show is all about our local community," says Donna Riccardo, stylist at Namaste and coordinator for the event at Hamburger Mary's. Everything associated with the show -- from the professional models to the posters and goody bags -- is either volunteered or donated by neighborhood people and companies, she points out. Students from the Art Institute of Colorado, for example, are to thank for the fashion design concepts that will be modeled. Organizations like Rack 'n Roll and Threads Worldwide will help facilitate the soiree, and those goody bags will be stuffed to the brim with booty from various Broadway shops.
After the fashion and hair show ends, the after-party begins when the floor opens for dancing. Food and drink will be available for purchase at Hamburger Mary's restaurant.
Doors open at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at the restaurant at 700 East 17th Avenue; the show starts at 9:30. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. VIP bottle service available for 21 and up, and includes appetizers. Dollar raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win Namaste salon services -- and one lucky door-prize winner will walk away with ten complimentary Aveda products.
