Since time immemorial, firefighters have been putting out fires while simultaneously starting them in the hearts of lusty ladies everywhere: Something about firefighters is just sexy. “They’ll run into a burning building to save you,” observes Angela Kmezich, spokeswoman for Fired Up for Kids, the nonprofit that’s been putting together one incredibly steamy calendar after another in the name of funding the Children’s Hospital burn unit since 2004. “That’s hot, literally.”

After a rigorous selection process and eight long months of agonizing toil, the 2012 Colorado Firefighter Calendar is about to make its debut, featuring no fewer than fifteen of the empirically determined hottest firefighters around. The odd number allows slots for December 2011 and January 2013, plus a featured calendar alum. “Sometimes we just have a hard time narrowing it down,” admits Kmezich.

Tonight you can see the results –- in person -- at the calendar debut party, which offers a first peek at the calendar, wine, snacks and the pièce de résistance: a runway show featuring all fifteen firefighters –- shirtless. But be warned, says Kmezich: “It gets pretty rowdy.”

It all takes place tonight at 8 p.m. at City Hall, 1144 Broadway. Tickets range from $35 to $75 for the full VIP package, and proceeds benefit Fired Up for Kids. Get more information at www.firedupforkids.org.
