What do you get when you combine cats and cupcakes? A fundraiser that promises to be the purr-fect start to some Saturday fun in downtown Denver. The Cupcakes 4 Cats cupcake sale, hosted by the Cat Care Society, boasts delicious cupcakes from local vendors, including Maggie and Mollie’s Bakery, Cake Crumbs, Happy Cakes, Lovely Confections, Butterfly Confetti Cakes, and Daveeda’s Delights, which is operated by the executive director of the Cat Care Society and named for a cat.

There will be 600 cupcakes for you to buy and eat solo or share with your family -- or maybe your feline friends. But don’t anticipate being able to adopt any cats today. Instead, says Cat Care Society development director Suellen Scott, “look for people walking around 16th Street Mall pushing kittens in strollers and advertising for the cupcake sale.”

The Cupcakes 4 Cats benefit will take place at a kiosk at the corner of California Street and the 16th Street Mall today from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cupcakes are $5 each, and proceeds go toward operational costs for sheltering more than sixty cats, which are awaiting adoption at the Cat Care Society.
