It’s been eight long years since the Xbox 360 launched, but the next generation of gaming has finally arrived. The PlayStation 4 debuted last week, and tonight, Microsoft lets loose its volley in the console wars at the Xbox One Midnight Release Party.

Hundreds of gaming fanatics will gather to be among the first to get their hands on the new hardware and games, and Microsoft and Colorado Cutthroat Connection are teaming up to make the occasion a memorable one, with prizes, a Killer Instinct tournament, and hands-on time with a handful of launch titles. And you don’t even have to drop the cash on a new system to join the fun. “Come hang out, be a gamer, have fun,” says Colorado Cutthroat CEO Gregory Richardson, adding that people will be able to win “some really cool stuff. We’re going to be filming an episode of our YouTube show Edge at the event, so players will get a chance to give their take on the Xbox One and see their shiny face on YouTube.”

The party starts at 10 p.m. at the Microsoft Store, 8505 Park Meadows Center in Lone Tree; admission is free. For more information, visit coloradocutthroat.com.
