Gear Up!

The allure of a shiny pedal or guitar is hard for most musicians to fend off, but with every purchase of a new piece of equipment, an old piece gets stuck in the closet to collect dust. Now it’s time to brush off that obsolete gear, load it up and head down to the Colorado Music Gear Swap Meet to trade it away for newer, shinier things.

“I just wanted to put together something I would actually want to go to,” says organizer Dutch Seyfarth. “It’s a way for musicians and shops to swap gear without the hassle of Craigslist.” The goal is to provide both shops and individuals with a place where they can trade gear of all shapes and sizes, everything from gongs to guitars (as long as it’s small enough to be carried in by an individual). Ideas will be swapped, as well, with clinics, workshops and product demos throughout the day from a wide array of musicians.

The Colorado Music Gear Swap Meet starts at 10 a.m. and runs through 4 p.m. at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom, 2637 Welton Street. Admission is $6; for more information, go to www.facebook.com/coloradomusicswap or call 720-468-0011.
