Yan came up with the idea of turning folks into zombies on paper while making rounds at various comic cons; hes now perfected the art, which it clearly is. But its also an out, he notes: As a caricaturist, I feel less pressure, since youre not supposed to look good as a zombie. I can just go ahead and make them look ugly. And how does he find each persons inner zombie? First I ask people what kind of injury, rot or infestation they want or dont want. So if they dont like maggots, I wont give them maggots. And I have some recurring themes for two-person zombiecatures: Theres the victim/zombie theme, or two zombies eating each other or my other standard, family portraits.
The fun begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. at the MacSpa, 1738 Wynkoop Street, Suite 103; admission is free, and if you hit Stan up for an ugly picture of yourself, hell throw in a copy of his new comic book, Vincent Price Presents #33, a collaboration with fellow cartoonist Daniel Crosier.
