Grave Surprises

Every cemetery contains at least a hint of mystery, and Riverside Cemetery is no exception. If you’ve always wanted to know just who is buried there and why they were once significant to our city, then the Riverside Cemetery History & Mystery Night Tour is perfect for you.

“It’s a history tour of Denver through the cemetery, with a little bit of mystery thrown in,” explains Riverside’s Patricia Carmody. “Things like, why is that mausoleum there and nobody’s buried in it? Things along those lines. So it’s not a ghouly, scary kind of tour. It’s the history of Riverside Cemetery, which is directly related to the history of Denver, and the mystery sets around some of the people.”

Call Carmody at 303-322-3895 or e-mail [email protected] to make your reservation for the 4:30 or 5:30 p.m. tour (the 6:30 and 7:30 tours are already filled). Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for kids. Bring a flashlight and dress for an October evening in Colorado; afterward, refreshments will be served. Visit for information.
