Breckenridge Ski Resort marks its fiftieth anniversary today with an all-day Birthday Bash that coincides with the Nike Open, the first stop on the 2011/2012 Winter Dew Tour. Catch the snowboard and freeski superpipe and slopestyle semi-finals on the mountain from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. (free to spectators from the base of Peak 8), and hit the all-day drink specials at the T-Bar -- near the base of the original T-Bar lift, installed in 1961 -- then head into town for the party, starting at 4:30 p.m.

"Everybody in town is coming together to celebrate our history and show how important the ski area is to us," says Breckenridge Re-sort Chamber spokeswoman Rachel Zerowin. "Up on Ridge Street, we'll be tapping a few kegs of Budweiser's special Breckenridge 50th Anniversary Ale, and then the fireworks and free champagne toast will start at 5:15, just before we all head to Riverwalk Center, at 150 West Adams, for the free Los Lobos concert."

There are lots of other parties going on while the Dew Tour is in town, so ask around. For lodging deals and a full fiftieth-anniversary celebration schedule, visit www.gobreck.com. The full Dew Tour event schedule is at www.allisports.com/winter-dew-tour; superpipe finals are on Saturday, and slopestyle finals are on Sunday.
