Just about everyone can relate to those childhood summer-camp crafts, and now Matelski has come up with a way for nostalgic hipsters to reconnect with their inner campers. In the wake of his defunct First Monday Art Talk series at Dazzle (by the way, Matelski intimates that those will be returning soon, in a new location), he's devised a new Artzy Fartzy Nite series for the cozy jazz club and eatery. He sees it as a fun way to keep up Dazzle's connection with the art community.
We're looking for the late-night crowds who want a unique ambience and something fun to do while enjoying their late-night Monday, Matelski says. The weekly event will present changing DIY crafts every Monday from 9 p.m. to midnight. Work tables are set up and supplies provided; an energy boost also comes in the form of chef Duncan Smith's all-you-can-eat chili, offered in red, green or vegetarian versions, with a toppings bar and a beer on the side.
We try to keep it kind of loose. I create a few demos, but what you do at your table is completely up to your own imagination, Matelski adds.
There is no cover to participate, and the chili-and-beer deal is $10; for more information, call Dazzle, 930 Lincoln Street, at 303-839-5100 or go to www.dazzlejazz.com. Or visit http://artpimponline.com/ for the lowdown on other upcoming Matelski events.
Mondays, 9 p.m.-midnight. Starts: Nov. 8. Continues through April 25, 2010
