Ive always been a fan of holiday shows, notes TribalTiques Julia Diverdi. Each year, our theme is something different, but Holiday Hafla did start out as a holiday show. Its evolved since then; this year, the theme is Disco and Funk, so you can expect to hear those styles of music and see costumes paying homage to the divas of the 70s.
Get in the spirit of the booty-shaking season from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at a dance workshop appropriate for all levels and styles of belly dance (bring a yoga mat and water bottle); at 6:30 p.m., doors open for the 7 p.m. show. The accompanying marketplace will offer tribal jewelry, custom costumes, silk veils and much more for all your exotic shopping needs. Admission to the afternoon workshop is $35 register early to ensure your spot and tickets for the evening performance and marketplace are $5 in advance, $10 at the door. Both events take place at the Grant Avenue Community Center, 216 South Grant Street; visit www.tribaltique.com for more information.
