Halloween weekend starts tonight with the one and only Buffy the Vampire Slayer, at the Buffy Sing-Along at City Chicks Food & Flicks, 138 Main Street in Lyons. Obviously, the classic musical episode “Once More, With Feeling,” which chronicles the gang’s struggle with the demon Sweet in a musical duel to the death, will provide the libretto.

And don’t worry if you haven’t memorized all the songs: The City Chicks have got you covered. “We'll be handing out lyrics to the songs,” promises Robin Young. “It will just be fun.” And if you don’t already know the wonders of Buffy or hate singing in public, you can still enjoy the costumes, the opening band and other fun stuff. “It's a dress-up party. If people want to wear a costume, it’s encouraged,” Young says. “We may do a costume contest, too.”

The evening starts at 7 p.m. with the announcement of the winners of the second annual scarecrow contest. At 7:30, Accidental Ingestion plays its set, and Buffy takes over at 8:15. Admission is free, and there are plenty of dinner and drink specials on offer, including a $10 pizza and salad buffet. For more info, visit www.citychicksfoodflicks.com or call 303-823-6049.
