Copper Mountain’s 3 Ring Weekend is a three-day family-friendly event celebrating the mountain lifestyle — and to spokeswoman Erin Woods, that means “combining healthy physical activities and events with entertainment, music, science and an eco-friendly message about sustainability and the environment.”

The festivities fire up today at 10 a.m. with Copper’s Friday special: Drop $30 in local shops, bars or restaurants and get free tickets to try the quad bungee jump, climbing wall, bumper boards, go-karts, paddleboats, mini-golf and chairlift rides. Spin Cycle and DJ Laundry will take over the main stage in Burning Stones Plaza at 5 p.m., followed by a free screening of the film Hoot.

Main events take place over the weekend, with a 10K trail run on Saturday and the annual Copper Mountain half-marathon and 5K on Sunday. Kids can decorate their bikes, skateboards or roller skates at the Primp My Ride event on Saturday, just before the Kid-Powered Parade, then check out the Conscious Carnival, featuring hands-on activities, workshops, Walk On Water Bubbles, and circus-style performances by Cosmic Fire and others.

Most events are free; register online for the runs at www.copperhalf.com. For a full schedule, visit www.3ringweekend.com.
