It's a Potluck, My Dear Watson

It's no mystery where the Sherlock Holmes aficionados will be tonight. Dr. Watson's Neglected Patients' annual Guy Fawkes Day Celebration is going on this evening at the French Quarter Condominiums Clubhouse, 155 South Monaco Parkway, from 5 to 9 p.m.

The free annual event includes a potluck supper and a Sherlock Holmes movie (probably Without a Clue). The celebration has been taking place since at least 1995 and started out in a pub. Boardmember Mark Langston says the group switched to a potluck format because the bar was too noisy. It's now the perfect opportunity to share some good food and company.

"We just enjoy reading the stories, getting together to talk about it," says Langston. "One can add to one's circle of friends."

People are free to bring whatever potluck item they want; it's not limited to Sherlock Holmes-era food. Langston suggests that interested people RSVP, though it's not required.

The Guy Fawkes Day Celebration is just one of many activities hosted by Dr. Watson's Neglected Patients. Club dues are $10 a year per person, $15 for two members, but membership isn't required for tonight's get-together. For more information on the club and future happenings, visit www.dwnp.com.
