Looking for the unusual in the arts in 2013? Downtown Denver's private Dikeou Collection and the Dikeou Golden Triangle pop-up space are both places to start. And if you haven't already checked it out, hurry to the downtown venue's Swap Meet: Artpace and the Dikeou Collection, a major exhibition mounted in cooperation with San Antonio's Pace Gallery. The two galleries exchanged artworks last fall; it's now or never if you want to see the show, which ends Friday.
This is also a great opportunity just to see what's up at Dikeou -- not a place you'd normally drop into on First Friday. Because throughout the year, the gallery hosts readings, concerts, dance performances and other cultural events in addition to featuring art. In this show, many fascinating pieces from the gallery's own collection are interspersed among the swapped displays. The collection and the exhibition are both free and open to the public; visit daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday.
