Following the story of Mary Magdalene -- arguably the most controversial female figure in history -- Magdalene takes the audience from Marys birth in Egypt and early training as a high priestess to the search for her beloved Jesus Christ. The rock musical examines Christs elevation of Mary as the first apostle -- and what that did to her relations with the other apostles -- as well as the effect Jesus and Marys relationship had on themselves, their world and our modern world 2,000 years later.
