But ArtPlant residencies, determined by a juried national search, are privately funded, and there are costs involved in bringing topnotch artists from across the country to work and mingle among the local milieu, even one at a time. To that end, the nonprofit invites the public to let loose for a price on Thursday, May 8 during NOYOKØ -- which stands for You Only Karaoke Once (but obviously you don't) -- a karaoke fundraiser from 8 to 11 p.m. at Hamburger Mary's. Griffin will be in town to host, as competitors shell out increasing incremental fees to participate in mild-to-wild karaoke challenges.Admission for spectators is $10, but challenges vary in price from $10 to go solo to $100 for the Duet of Death, which entitles you to pick any two people out of the audience to sing a duet of your choice.
