“The really exciting thing over the past ten years is that we continue to get donations in the mail and in person,” he adds, “so our collection continues to grow, which makes for heavier moves each time.”
Today, DZL will host a grand reopening with Sent(a)Mental Studios, painter and author Dylan Scholinski’s art workshop for metro-area youth dealing with suicide. The two organizations share a new space at the Temple, 2400 Curtis Street in Five Points, with individual artists and their studios. “It’s going to be a huge building of creativity. I’m excited to see the creative possibilities,” says Shortandqueer.
The free reopening runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Temple; celebrate the new space, enjoy some refreshments, browse the zines and talk to the librarians about how you can make your own. For more information, go to denverzinelibrary.org.
