“Burlesque isn’t just about stripping; it’s about the art of it, the tease, the glitter and glamour of getting your clothes off with style,” says Lola Spitfire, one of the producers of the second annual Colorado Burlesque Festival, which starts shaking its naughty bits tonight at 8 p.m. with a $20 opening gala at Casselman’s Bar and Venue, 2620 Walnut Street. “Don’t get me wrong: There are going to be naked hot chicks everywhere,” she promises. “The one I’m most excited to see is Miss Indigo Blue, from Seattle. She won Miss Erotic World this year at the Burlesque Hall of Fame, so we have the reigning queen of burlesque coming to Denver!” Other national and international headlining acts this weekend include The World Famous *BOB*; Tigger “The Godfather of Boylesque”; Michelle L’amour (recently featured on America’s Got Talent); and Trixie Little & the Evil Hate Monkey. “These headliners are the badasses of the burlesque universe,” Spitfire says. “We’ll also have all of our local favorites representing: We have one of the most highly respected and acclaimed burlesque communities in the world right here.” The festivities move to Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret tomorrow for a VIP performance at 8 p.m. (tickets start at $35) and a Late Night Naughty Nightcap at 11 p.m. (starting at $20), then to the Gothic Theatre on Saturday at 8 p.m. for the Colorado Burlesque Festival Spectacular ($25). The party wraps up with a poolside Beach Blanket Brunch ($5 cover) on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Burnsley Hotel, 1000 Grant Street.
