The stage is set for Monday Magic Madness, the fourth annual celebration of the art of close-up magic. The showcase, which will feature six magicians, benefits the Mile High Magicians Society, a nonprofit that supports the magical arts in Colorado and is one of the largest magic clubs in the country.

“The idea of close-up is that the magic is going to happen right in front of your face as opposed to fifty feet away on the stage,” explains Matthew Brandt, president of the Mile High Magicians Society. “I think magic is sort of a neglected performing art and somewhat laughed at. If people come and see this event, I think they’ll see that magic has really broad appeal — not just for children, but also for adults.”

The magic begins tonight at 7 p.m. at the Lumber Baron Inn, 2555 West 37th Avenue. Admission to the all-ages show is $10, and there will be a cash bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. For more information, call 719-646-3119 or go to milehighmagicians.ning.com.
