Oh, the Faces you'll see: The Arvada Center updates portraiture in a summer exhibit

The Arvada Center galleries will greet the summer with a cheerful set of shows, Faces, Places & Spaces, which open in unison tonight with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. and remain on view through August 26. Two artist nights, each with a panel discussion and meet-and-greet, are also scheduled on June 28 and August 4; visit the Arvada Center online for details.

Faces is a swift trip around the visage, interpreted in various mediums by a who's-who of some of our favorite local artists, and it's -- pow! pow! -- drop-dead fun from start to finish. Here's a sampling of the faces you'll see:

KEEP WESTWORD FREE... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. Susan Froyd started writing for Westword as the "Thrills" editor in 1992 and never quite left the fold. These days she still freelances for the paper in addition to walking her dogs, enjoying cheap ethnic food and reading voraciously. Sometimes she writes poetry.
