“To me, it’s never been about being a woman in a man’s world; it’s been about delivering a consistently funny and entertaining show each night,” Chelsea Handler shared in a recent piece about her position in the boys’ club that is late-night television. A comedian, actress, author, TV host and producer, Handler has held down an evening slot on E! for close to seven years with Chelsea Lately, basking in the ability to keep her raunchy style intact on the cable-channel show.

But Handler isn’t all talk: The writer and funny woman is currently on the road in support of her latest book, Uganda Be Kidding Me. She’ll be making double appearances in Denver today — one at the Tattered Cover and one at the Bellco Theatre — to talk about her experiences traveling the world. A breakup initially inspired Handler to head to Africa, where she spent several weeks on safari with friends and family in tow. The result was a travel diary that only a comedian could pen, complete with travel tips and plenty of Handler’s bawdy humor.

Handler will be at the Tattered Cover, 2526 East Colfax Avenue, at 2 p.m. for a book signing; she’ll perform tonight at 8 p.m. at the Bellco Theatre in the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street. Tickets to the latter are $59.50 to $69.50; purchase them at ticketmaster.com or call 800-745-3000. For more information, visit chelseahandler.com.
