Next to the indelible image of Darth Vader, there’s nothing more iconic of the Star Wars mythos than John Williams’s stirring musical cues. From the booming main theme to the foreboding “Imperial March” and beyond, the music of Star Wars is as essential to the experience as 'droids, Jedi and stormtroopers. In recognition of the soundtrack’s hallowed place in the geek canon, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra is offering A Weekend of Star Wars to transport fans back to their favorite galaxy far, far away.

“The score to Star Wars is the Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 of the geek community. Every fan will know it four notes in,” says Matt Krupa, application support analyst and nerd consultant for the CSO. “This weekend is a tribute to every fan who named their dog ‘Chewbacca,’ pretends they made the jump to lightspeed during every Colorado blizzard, or really just loves great music.” Plus, it’s one of the few times your Slave Leia costume is encouraged at the symphony.

Hear the music that made Star Wars great, tonight at 7:30 p.m. or tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Boettcher Concert Hall, in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Tickets range from $25 to $50 for tonight’s show and $20 to $45 for tomorrow’s performance. For more information, visit coloradosymphony.org.
