The Cirque du Soleil model seems calculatedly designed to turn you around by the time the show ends, no matter how cynical you thought you were when it started: Its startling spectacle -- from the beautiful costumes and lighting to the way it celebrates the incredible strength of the human body -- just sucks up an audience, which cannot believe it's seeing a slew of human beings tossed up in the air and caught again lightly like so many sacks of flour or a jump rope turning so fast that it becomes a moving picture of itself.
Quidam follows the formula seamlessly, couched in the story of a little girl's dream, and you won't be disappointed with its acrobatic pyrotechnics and whimsy. Currently at the 1STBANK Center through Sunday, November 11, Quidam then moves to the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland for a run from November 14 to 18. Visit Cirque du Soleil online for information and tickets.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
