These days, U2 is less a rock band than some sort of weirdly beatific entity, to the extent that when the band comes to town, it even inspires good works. Case in point: the "Take off your Boots" ticket giveaway on Friday, where concert ticket retailer StubHub gave away some 150 tickets to Saturday's U2 show at Invesco in exchange for the donation of one new or gently used pair of shoes -- though photographer Kelly Kaoudis reports that no shoes were turned away. The droves turned out the the Hard Rock Cafe on Friday to turn in their shoes, and Kaoudis was there. She brings back these photos.
The drive was administered by Soles4Souls, which filled five very large boxes with shoes. Volunteers Kathy and Paul show off the results.

Captain Jack Sparrow was there, for some reason.

So many shoes!
