Ever since Jill Warner and her husband, Erick Roorda, opened Mod Livin' ten years ago, they've been fielding questions about Charles and Ray Eames on a daily basis: "What did they design? How can you tell which pieces are theirs? Why are they important?" But it wasn't until this year that Warner finally came up with a way to answer those questions all at once: She and Roorda are now hosting a recurring lecture series on modern design at their store.

"We're trying to get the community more involved in it, because people love their collections but don't connect outside of them," Warner says. "We want everyone to share their thoughts and perceptions on why modern style matters to them."

And because they exemplify the modern movement, Charles and Ray Eames head the curriculum. Tonight, five Eames enthusiasts will share stories about the couple, including offering a how-to on their molded-plywood techniques and anecdotes about personal collections. The evening will also showcase a large range of Eames pieces, posters and books, some for sale and others on loan from Denver homes.

The program starts at 6 p.m. at Mod Livin', 5327 East Colfax Avenue. For more information, call 720-941-9292 or visit www.modlivin.com.
