Let's face it: Adult proms are way cooler than the high-school kind -- and this one has all the best elements of prom, and more. "There will be really good music," LaBure says, "delicious vegan finger food and tapas, tons of giveaways. We have tons of companies offering really good products, and raffle tickets for $1." There will also be a picture area where people can get prom pictures for $5, plus a cash bar with vegan drinks. "No chaperones," LaBure adds. "You can dance as close to your partner as you want. And everybody's welcome; you don't have to be vegan to come."
The chefs from Chomp! will provide the food; Brian Polk and Jason Randall will dish up tunes for your dance-floor enjoyment. Admission is $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The prom starts at 8 p.m. at the Mercury Cafe, 2199 California Street. Proceeds benefit Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary, a safe haven for abandoned, abused and neglected farm animals.
