Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood has become one the world's premiere motocross venues in recent years, and this past Saturday it hosted the Toyota Thunder Valley National, the third event in the 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship series.
Ryan Dungey (who also won the 2011 Thunder Valley National), Jake Weimer and local favorite Andrew Short (from Colorado Springs) took the podium in the 450 Class, after James Stewart -- the overall leader who went into Saturday's event undefeated -- crashed in the first moto when a photographer crossed the track in front of him, injuring his wrist and missing the second moto altogether. (See footage of the crash from Stewart's helmet camera after the jump.) Justin Barcia won the 250 Class, sharing the podium with Blake Baggett and Ken Roczen. Jessica Patterson, Tarah Geiger and Ashley Fiolek took the podium in the WMX Class.
Stewart's results on Saturday drop him from first to third, behind Dungey and Weimer, in the overall points standings.
