Snow Blast

Movies? Check.

Music? Check.

Snow? Check.

That tasty trio is at the heart of Copper Mountain ski resort’s fourth annual opening-weekend celebration, Lift Off.

Tonight, after a hard day on the mountain, Copper presents a free Lift Off Movie Tour Pub Crawl, with films screened at various stops around town. The Storm King Lounge will feature Teton Gravity Research’s latest snowboard film, Under the Influence; other movies in the tour include Double Decade, by Mack Dawg, and Aesthetica, from Standard Films. Pub Crawl locations will also offer après parties full of drink specials.

And speaking of hangovers, pace yourself, because the fun isn’t over yet. Tomorrow brings a lineup of live music featuring Boombox and Brother Ali; tickets are $12, and doors open at 8 p.m.

Now that you have your nights planned, don’t forget to play in the snow. The American Eagle chairlift will offer a variety of prizes including lift tickets, season passes and gear. Copper’s Eagle Jib Park will be open for those who prefer their skiing and boarding with aerial twists and turns. And all weekend, some of the top companies will be on hand to demo the latest ski and snowboard gear.

Just like last year, the Summit County resort, located about 75 miles west of Denver, expects to draw hundreds of people for Lift Off, which runs today through Sunday. For more information, visit
