Storm, Miller's 53rd adventure epic, takes moviegoers on screaming rides down vertical cliffs in our own back yards of Breckenridge, Aspen and Steamboat. It also ventures up the steep peaks of the Austrian Alps, through the crevassed chutes of Valdez, Alaska and to the wind-whipped ice caps of South Georgia Island, finishing up off the coast of Antarctica. "These films are an institution," says Kurt Miller, the filmmaker's son and Storm's executive producer. "We always get people who are passionate about the outdoors psyched for the upcoming season."
Braving exotic, and sometimes inhospitable, locales, Miller's camera crews captured over fifty of the world's best snow-cutting athletes fleeing cascading avalanches and battling nasty whiteouts, even toughing out a California Marine boot camp that specializes in mountaineer training. "The things that our crews are skiing on are so far out there, so extreme, that the average athlete would be terrified to even approach the mountain," Miller guarantees. "People are going to be gasping, screaming and applauding in their seats."
But mostly, Storm is a celebration of heli-skiing, backcountry runs and fresh powder. (Thank heaven it's already dumping.)
