Despite high gas prices, oil spills and politics, America's love affair with the automobile isn't going anywhere. And when it comes to preserving and promoting the superhero of all cars, the hot rod, Streamline Hot Rod Car Parts is Denver's go-to garage. It's only natural, then, that the shop is the site of the city's biggest gearhead block party, the Streamline Hot Rod Car Parts Car Show, a fiesta that will include car and motorcycle exhibitions, prizes, contests, giveaways, tasty eats from Tambien in Cherry Creek, and live music courtesy of local rock band Reno Divorce.

As wild as the party will be, though, there's a deeper drive behind it. "The entrance fees for the show will benefit FOSS, Friends of Slavens School, to keep arts and other extracurricular programs in this local Denver public school,” says Streamline's Jessica Kouba. “We put on this party to have a great time and to shine headlights on the exciting and diverse scene that is a Denver car show."

The show revs up today at 10 a.m. outside Streamline, 800 Kalamath Street. Emceeing the event is Lou Santiago, world-famous car builder and former host of Spike TV's MuscleCar. Admission to the party is $5; for more info, visit or call 303-865-4162.
