Here in the States, we tend to think of trailer parks as a distinctly American commodity, but it’s possible that the country the rest of the world most closely associates with the trailer is Canada — and if that’s true, we have the Trailer Park Boys to thank. A massively popular mockumentary-style series almost everywhere but here (and for those in the know here, it’s got a strong cult following), the show follows the various misadventures of Julian, Ricky and Bubbles, three big-hearted criminal buffoons who inhabit the Sunnyvale Trailer Park of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, as they try to get high and elude a park supervisor with a vendetta and his perpetually shirtless assistant.

Inspired by one movie and having inspired two more, Trailer Park Boys is also in the habit of sending its three beloved protagonists on tour. Last time, it was the Community Service Tour; this time the theme is Drunk, High and Unemployed. “Yeah, it’s going to be a good time,” says Ricky (none of the three ever break character). “We’re hoping people come to the show with a good buzz on, because we’re going to be drinking a lot of liquor on stage.”

“And bring a lot of money with you,” adds Julian, “because I’ve got a lot of really cool things that I’m selling.”

If you’re a fan of the series, you get that joke. The boys deliver their booze-and-weed-addled mayhem tonight at 7:30 p.m. and again tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the Boulder Theater, 2032 14th Street in Boulder; tonight’s show is already sold out. For tickets, $38.50, or more information, call 303-786-7030 or visit www.bouldertheater.com.
