Tag Team

What do soda pop and extreme death rituals of Borneo have to do with each other? Is there any connection between craft beer and Renaissance polyphony? Not on the surface -- but then, the Laboratory of Art and Ideas at Belmar has a reputation for delving deep beneath the obvious in its exhibitions and programming. The aforementioned pairings are all topics of the Lab’s Mixed Taste Lecture Series, wherein two speakers tag-team on seemingly unrelated topics. That’s followed by a mash-up question-and-answer session where anything can happen.

Tonight, find out what Motown and Gonzo Journalism have in common at Mixed Taste, featuring Motown expert Arthur Jones and gonzo go-to Anita Thompson, wife of the late Hunter S. Thompson. Tickets are $7.50 for members and $12.50 for the general public. The lecture starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Lab, 404 South Upham Street in Belmar; reservations and early arrival are both highly encouraged, as this event tends to fill up fast.
