America's Got Talent was exhilarating, says Lynne Waggoner-Patton, artistic director of the Rocky Mountain Schools of Dance and Performing Artists. But her real goal is to build human connection through dance. Since quitting the competitive circuit in 2008, Silhouettes now do most of their performing in shelters for homeless youth and their families.
"Dance is a very enlightening and loving experience," says Waggoner-Patton, who promises a show filled with "endless adventure," as well as the usual shape-shifting. "We use it to show these children that they can believe in a future. That's how we all get through our hard times, by dancing and coming to the studio every day."
Silhouettes will share the love today at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Showtime is 8 p.m., and tickets range from $29.50 to $49.50 at www.ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.
