“He might not be too many people’s favorite artist, but everyone has an appreciation for Salvador Dalí,” says Charlotte LaSasso of the Boulder County Arts Association. So when BCAA boosters were thinking about a not-too-serious excuse to throw a party in May, they went looking for artists born in that month — and Dalí seemed an obvious choice. “He’s so iconic that they really felt there’s a lot of material to work with,” notes LaSasso.

You can reap the rewards of their efforts today from 2 to 5 p.m. at the BCAA Party for Salvador Dalí’s Birthday. “Expect the usual food, some Spanish-inspired food,” LaSasso says. “Good music — we have a great DJ, courtesy of KGNU, who always comes equipped with his specific sounds. We’ll have live entertainment, and the Millennium Hotel has given us the indoor ballroom and the gardens, so there will be milling about.

“It’s always fun when you get a lot of artists together and they’re not there for an art opening,” she adds. “They’re just there to enjoy each other.”

The Millennium is at 1345 28th Street in Boulder. Tickets to the party are $25 for BCAA members and $35 for non-members; to get yours, call 303-447-2422 or visit www.bouldercountyarts.org.
