“Mapping out the route for the inaugural Denver Century Ride has been a lot of fun,” says ride director Leslie Caimi. “The terrain you can get into within 100 miles of downtown? It’s incomparable. Our route utilizes Denver’s vast bike-path system, some of the metro area’s classic road cycling and one of Colorado's premier climbs.”

Starting and ending at Invesco Field at Mile High, that terrain includes a grueling climb up Lookout Mountain for a total elevation change of 4,050 feet, some white-knuckle downhill through Red Rocks Park, and plenty of scenery to chew on along the way. The century ride starts at 5:30 a.m. There are also scaled-back options, including a 100K “metric century” (62 miles) that starts at 6 a.m. and follows most of the 100-mile route, and a 22-mile Father’s Day Family Fun ride (8:30 a.m.) that mostly sticks to the Platte River Trail bike paths.

The event benefits BikeDenver and Bicycle Colorado, as well as Denver’s Road Home, the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, and the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease. Registration for the century and metric century rides is $70. The Family Fun Ride is $55 for adults and $35 for children under fourteen. Pre-register at www.denvercenturyride.com.
