The Style Council

Sunshiny fashion entrepreneur Brandy Shigley has made a name for herself not only for promoting Denver designers, but also for producing an ongoing series of seasonal fashion markets where it’s easy to pick up unique clothing and accessories, direct from the source. But her move to Taxi, 3455 Ringsby Court, as a venue for the markets seems to have raised the bar on what’s become Shigley’s trademark event; the RiNo design center is cool, hip and urban, with the added resources of a great restaurant (Fuel Cafe) and a built-in trendy community.

The Fashion Denver Holiday Market, then, promises to be all that and more: Not only will there be wares from twenty local designers, including some new ones for Shigley, but you’ll also be able to sit for a mini-manicure and holiday-ready makeover by Tootsie’s, enjoy bubbly from Hpnotiq, watch ongoing Parisian-style runway shows, pray for one of two $100 gift cards up for grabs for a couple of lucky winners, or sneak around the corner to the Goldyn fashion showroom in Taxi II. Oh, and Shigley even promises the moon: A “hipster Santa” will also make the scene.

Attend the market from $10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; go to for details.
Sun., Dec. 13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 2009

KEEP WESTWORD FREE... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
Susan Froyd started writing for Westword as the "Thrills" editor in 1992 and never quite left the fold. These days she still freelances for the paper in addition to walking her dogs, enjoying cheap ethnic food and reading voraciously. Sometimes she writes poetry.
